Courtesy notification of renewal is generally mailed by the State 45 days prior to expiration. It is important that you keep the Meade County Treasurers' office advised of any change in name or address.
Registration renewals are determined alphabetically:
C and D
E, F, and G
H and I
J, K, and L
M, N, and O
P, Q, and R
T, V, and W
U, X, Y, and Z
Trucks over 12,000 pounds, Trailers, and Mobile Homes expire on December 31st. Tags are available on January 2nd, and you have until the end of February to renew.
To title and register a vehicle bring:
Signed Certificate of Origin (new vehicles) or signed title (used vehicles) You no longer need to have these notarized
Sales Tax - Bill of Sale from seller or Kansas Retail Sales Tax Receipt
Proof of No-fault insurance company name and policy number. Everyone is required to show proof of insurance on all motor vehicle transactions. Renewals done by mail will need to include a copy of the proof of insurance with the renewal notice.
Register within thirty days of the purchase date at the County Treasurer's Office to avoid penalties. When a vehicle is disposed of, return the tag and registration to the County Treasurer for a possible refund.
